Marooned in backward Victoriana by a magical Christmas cracker, Ollie Brown wants to get home to modern Tacoma. The enticing girl who shelters him tempts him to stay in this alternate reality, but what does a nineteenth century princess need with a twenty-first century skateboarding chemist in a world where science is banned?
Princess Lenchen thrills at the chance to assist the handsome stranger who speaks of oddities like candy bars and “grinding.” Ollie offers a breath of freedom, but Lenchen knows he feels trapped and out of place. She reluctantly tries to help him find a way back to his world, though she longs to know more about him—and to escape her cloistered life in the widowed Queen Victoria’s court.
Every girl wants her own Cinderella story, even if she's already a princess—but if Ollie stays with her, will he be allowed to be himself?

Oliver Brown has been in the foster care system since he was a child. Now, the twenty-one-year-old skateboard enthusiast is putting himself through college by doing odd jobs at a Dollar Store, and hoping to find a future in science. At the store, he finds a Christmas cracker with interesting paper and suddenly finds himself transported to a nineteenth-century estate of the Isle of Wight. The first person he encounters is Lenchen, a lovely young princess with a vibrant spirit and tomboy ways.
Lenchen's mother is the queen, and the young princess chafes at the restrictions placed upon her, also, she's tired of the sadness surrounding her (presumably from her father's death three years earlier). When she meets the strangely dressed and strange talking young man, she finds a kindred spirit, even though the two are worlds apart. Readers will note Victoriana is not simply a Victorian setting; there's a bit of magic there as well.
Ollie likes Lenchen, and the feeling is reciprocated, but Ollie must return to his time, and Lenchen has promised to help, even though she wants him to stay.
I liked this gentle, sweet story, which I feel fits the Young Adult category. Ollie seems young for his age, and slightly brash, Lenchen, however, is suitably demure. Their budding friendship was nicely done. Aside from a few anachronisms (a Victorian person would not use the word "hopefully"), I enjoyed the dialogue and the inner thoughts of both characters. It's a cute, lighthearted story, guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Victoriana Adventure edition by Heather Hiestand Romance eBooks Reviews
Sparks fly when a skate-boarding, science-loving college guy travels through time and meets a prim-and-proper princess who yearns to be set free from constraint ) I enjoyed this unconventional tale of young love! It wasn't what I was expecting when I saw the cover, but I'm *very* glad I read it!
I looooooove the cover of this novella. And Heather Hiestand's sweet style left me wanting more--I wish I'd read the previous story, since I soon realized another "traveler" had entered the Victoriana world before Oliver Brown. I would have loved a bit more in-depth explanations about the characters' backgrounds, since their attraction and growing affection developed nicely. I'm hoping Hiestand has more travelers in mind to explore this interesting place!
