Glad to have such a reference book at my finger tips. Very interesting information from 1892 when John O'Hart took on the Challenge of gathering and publishing Irish Pedigrees and history- before DNA could be accessed as a tool. I have not had a chance yet to access this book. But I have read excerpts from it on other sites and it is Packed with Information. For the family of O'Grady's i found DNA information that backs up the Family History in O'Hart's book - that the O'Grady's migrated from Spain and were once called "Hero's of Spain" or "Warrior's of Spain."www,sott,net/article/263587-DNA-shows-Irish-people-have-more-complex-origins-than-previously-thought

great book if your a history buff.
Is not usable in digital format. I will purchase a bound copy. I really think this item should be removed from sale. It's too large and cumbersome.
I will be purchasing the next volume also to trace my Hart ancestry. The Irish are difficult to
trace because of a major fire that destroyed Irish records but this book overcomes that problem.
So glad this text on Irish history and family genealogy was reprinted and still available to the public. LOTS to think about here! Irish family roots based on the oral histories, legends and genealogies kept for hundreds of years by the bards and later compiled and written, and in some ways no doubt interpreted by the Christian monks through the lens of their own understanding. Are the oldest parts of the family stories historically "factual" or not? No one is entirely sure. Depends if you trust the more than 20 years training of a bard to memorize the historical chants word for word. But VERY interesting perspectives nonetheless.
